The Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record is an extensive source of information on the archaeological and historic built environment of Exmoor. The information is managed in a searchable database and mapping system. Included within the database are details on archaeological sites and finds, historic buildings and historic landscapes. Designated sites are recorded, which include Scheduled Monuments, Listed Buildings and Historic Parks and Gardens. There are related collections of aerial photography, historic mapping, reports, journals and books on the historic environment of Exmoor.

Thanks to substantial funding from English Heritage in 2008, the Exmoor National Park Historic Environment Record is being improved, with additional research data and wider availability.

The information is now available online at Heritage Gateway. Search the online records to find out about Exmoor’s past.
