Exmoor Waxcap Survey

Waxcaps only appear on unimproved grassland, a habitat which is in decline in Britain. The Exmoor Waxcap Survey hopes to track down the last remaining areas of this type of grassland on Exmoor and to protect these areas. From October to December the rainbow colours of waxcaps can be seen on tightly cropped lawns and old grassland where no fertilisers have been added. In wet summers waxcaps may be spotted earlier in the season.
