The Exmoor National Park Local Plan 2001-2011
(including minerals and waste policies)
| The Exmoor National Park Local Plan 2001-2011 (including minerals and waste policies) was adopted by the Exmoor National Park Authority on 1st March 2005. Copies of the Local Plan are available from this page to view or download, via the links below. The Local Plan is also available in paper format. The Local Plan has been prepared over a period of 5 years, involving extensive public and stakeholder consultation (including 'Planning for Real') a public inquiry, and Recommendations by an Independent Planning Inspector. |
Policies within the Local Plan were automatically ‘saved’ for a three year period, from the date of adoption (March 2005) in accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. However, where local planning authorities can demonstrate to the Secretary of State that saved policies reflect the principles of local development frameworks, and that it is not feasible or desirable to replace them within the three year period, it is possible to seek the Secretary of State’s approval to extend them.
Exmoor National Park applied to the Government Office for the South West to extend the period of saved policies up until 2011 on the grounds that it is not feasible or desirable to replace Local Plan policies and that the saved policies reflect the principles of local development frameworks.
A letter was received from the Government Office, on authority of the Secretary of State, on 14th February 2008 to confirm the extension of saved policies.
