Exmoor National Park Design Guide

The Design Guide was produced as supplementary planning guidance (SPG) in 1995 to assist those engaged in designing, extending and restoring buildings within Exmoor National Park. This document underpins and expands upon policies within the Local Plan which refer to the design of development within the National Park. It is a practical document which shows how to achieve design that conserves and enhances Exmoor's built heritage and landscape.

The National Park Authority encourages high standards of design for all types of development which will ensure that Exmoor's local distinctiveness is maintained and improved. Achieving good quality design in new buildings is an important part of delivering sustainable development, and this is particularly important in an area with the highest status of protection in relation to landscape and scenic beauty.
