How Public Question Time Works
- The National Park Authority has a Public Question Time near the beginning of its meetings, after the Minutes of the previous meeting have been signed and discussion on any matters arising from those minutes.
- At the Chairman's invitation, you may ask any question, make any statement or present any petition in relation to any item on the relevant meeting agenda. The Chairman may also, at his discretion, allow a statement to be made or question to be asked if it addresses a matter of urgency.
- If you wish to speak or to submit a question to be read out at the meeting, you should inform the Chief Executive or his representative (The Member Services Officer) by email, in writing or by telephone by 4pm on the working day before the meeting indicating a brief summary of the matter or matters to be raised.
- You must direct your questions or comments through the Chairman. There will be no debate on questions or comments posed, which may be answered at the time or noted for consideration when the relevant agenda item is reached. If an answer cannot be provided on the day, a written reply will be offered. The Chairman may allow a supplementary question whenever he thinks it is reasonable and appropriate.
- You will have up to two minutes to speak or longer at the Chairman's discretion. The length of Public Question Time will not normally exceed 10 minutes per agenda item, unless the Chairman directs otherwise.
- If there are many people present at a meeting for a particular item, the Chairman may ask those concerned to nominate one of their number to pose the question, and, in such cases, the Chairman will allow up to 5 minutes for the question to be posed.
- A summary of all questions, statements, petitions and responses will be included in the Minutes of the meetings.
