Get Involved and Have Your Say!

An important new planning document, ‘Your Future Exmoor’, which will help decide issues such as where new housing and employment on Exmoor should be provided over the next 15 to 20 years as well as conservation, building design and community facilities is beginning the first stages of consultation and Exmoor National Park Authority is inviting local communities to give their views in a series of informal, drop-in events tailored to individual parishes.

The first event will be held for the community of Cutcombe on Monday 18 January, 3pm to 7pm, at the Moorland Hall in Wheddon Cross. The second event will be for the communities of Dulverton, Brushford, East Anstey and West Anstey and will be held on Thursday 21 January, 2pm to 7pm at Dulverton Town Hall.  At present these events are going ahead, but due to the recent adverse weather, if anyone would like to check before setting out on the day they can call 07800 792469 or 01398 323665.

[The first North Devon event will be held for the communities of Parracombe, Martinhoe, Trentishoe, Kentisbury and Combe Martin on Monday 25 January, 3pm to 7pm, at the Village Hall in Parracombe. The second event will be for the communities of Lynton and Lynmouth on Thursday 28 January, 2pm to 7pm at the United Reform Church Hall in Lynton.  At present these events are going ahead, but due to the recent adverse weather, if anyone would like to check before setting out on the day they can call 07800 792469 or 01392 323665.]

Ruth McArthur, Policy and Community Manager at Exmoor National Park Authority says: We want to know how you would like to see your community evolve in the future and this is a real opportunity for you to contribute towards how we can work together to achieve this and hope you will be able to drop-in to your local event.

Many young people have already been involved with telling us what is important to them through work with the schools within the National Park. Details of their views and work will be displayed at the community events. Further discussions are taking place with older students attending secondary schools and colleges outside the National Park.”

Views from the consultation events will be available in feedback reports which will be sent to parish and town councils, made available in local shops and services and will also be published on the National Park Authority website.

Anyone who cannot come to a consultation event can still make their views known by completing the questionnaire in the November edition of Park Life – this can also be found at: www.exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk/park-life.htm  by email (ldf@exmoor-nationalpark.gov.uk), or by post to Policy and Community Team, Exmoor National Park Authority, Exmoor House, Dulverton, TA22 9HL.
