Local children enjoy Wimbleball
More than 400 children from local schools recently enjoyed four days of activities at Wimbleball Lake celebrating the tenth anniversary of the South West Lakes Trust.
As part of this celebration, Exmoor National Park Authority, the Field Studies Council at Nettlecombe Court, Carymoor Environmental Trust and the Somerset Wildlife Trust hosted a variety of inspiring, education activities involving a walk to the dam and a boat trip back, making model boats out of recycled materials and powering them with renewable energy. The final evolving legacy will be a giant-sized willow sculpture in the shape of a trout.
Dave Gurnett, education manager at Exmoor National Park Authority said: “This was a fantastic team effort from really caring, professional people that come together once a year for the good of the local school communities. Children of all abilities were fully involved thanks to the excellent facilities and equipment available at Wimbleball Lake.”
